MS Beautilab has acquired Italy's Gi Picco's, the European leader in cosmetic powders, marking a first step in a strategy to strengthen its reach in skincare and makeup and international development.

WHO: Established in 1967, Gi Picco's was among the first Italian companies to specialize in decorative cosmetics and makeup production. Their unique level of industry expertise, along with an extensive range of formulas, molds, forms, designs, and colors, makes them an industry leader exporting more than 90% of their production.

Founded in 1964, MS Beautilab has plants in Europe, France, and Switzerland, and international offices worldwide, providing innovative and active skin health and beauty products.

WHY: The acquisition provides Ms Beautilab three makeup and skincare R&D laboratories in France, Italy, and Switzerland, four production sites including the Czech Republic, and a new "to be unveiled" venture.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS: "Gi Picco's technology is next-generation in powder manufacturing. They offer incredibly creative and attractive solutions that are influenced by the world of design, art and Italian fashion. It has been in GI Picco's DNA since 1967," explains Olivier Salaun, CEO of Groupe Marvinpac, which includes the activities of MS Beautilab. "They are also very much anchored in a sustainable and economic reality to respond to brands globally."

According to Irene Inguaggiato, General Manager of Gi Picco's, the Italian company has a perfect mastery of cutting-edge technologies such as Top Injection, which makes it possible to formulate powders from a mix of solid and liquids. "This allows for a more creamy, luxurious and luminous formula, which is higher in iridescence than pressed powders," she says.

Enrico Colombo, Gi Picco’s Director of Operations, said, "Unlike Back Injection, Top Injection lets several shades to be poured without a separator, allowing for varied compositions, three-dimensional decorations and the customization of a palette. Patterns that are raised or embossed, pearlescence, glitter effects—anything is possible!"
